Remembering Loved Ones with a Gift to St. John's Parishioners and friends of St. John's are invited to remember loved ones by making a gift to the St. John's Memorial Fund. Honorary gifts are also welcome. Your honorary or memorial gift will help St. John's to sustain and further expand the mission of the parish. Donations to the Memorial Fund may be directed to benefit one of the following areas/funds within the parish:
1) Help-A-Student (HAS) Education Fund: This fund provides financial assistance to families in need with the cost of tuition to attend St. John's School.
2) Debt Reduction Fund: The Debt Reduction Fund is used to pay down the parish’s debt to the Archdiocese of Cincinnati. The debt was incurred with the building of the current Church and school addition in the late 1990s.
3) Capital Improvement Fund: This fund is used to assist with the expenses associated with improvements and maintenance to the parish buildings and grounds.
4) Flower Fund: This fund is used to offset the cost of purchasing flowers to decorate the Church throughout the year.
5) Fr. Charlie Bowes Memorial Endowment Fund: Interest revenue generated from the Endowment Fund will be used to fund expenses associated with the liturgical ministries, buildings and grounds, and other needs of the parish.
Memorial donations made with no specific designation will be applied to the Parish General Fund to assist with operating and non-operating expenses. All memorial gifts to St. John's are tax deductible as permitted by law.
Acknowledgement of Memorial Gifts When a memorial gift is made, the Parish Development Office will send an acknowledgement note to the family of the person being remembered (no gift amounts are disclosed).
In addition, an alphabetical listing of memorial gifts will be published in the St. John's Memorial Fund Booklet in early November in conjunction with the Feast of All Souls Day. This listing will include the person being remembered and family making the gift -- if you wish to remain anonymous in this listing, please indicate this when making your gift.
Language for Obituary Notices When memorial donation arrangements are made with the funeral home and the newspaper, the wording most often used by families is the following: "in lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made to St. John the Baptist Church, 5361 Dry Ridge Road, Cincinnati, OH 45252."
